Meet the Etherow Language Hubs team

Tom Coltman – NCLE Hub Lead & Specialist Teacher Trust Director of Languages

Tom graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2006 before completing his PGCE in Modern Languages at the University of Manchester in 2008.  Since then, Tom has taught Spanish to A-Level along with French and some German at KS3.
 
 
Tom  has worked at Cheadle Hulme High School since joining as Head of Spanish in 2014.  He progressed to become Head of Languages and after the formation of the Laurus Trust, Tom became Trust Director of Languages in 2019.
 
Tom now leads the Language departments across the six secondary schools in the Laurus Trust.  He also works with other schools in Greater Manchester in his capacity as an SLE in Languages.
 
Tom is delighted to now be leading the Etherow Language Hub and working with a wider group of schools to promote language learning as part of the NCLE programme.
 

Rachel Green – NCLE Specialist Teacher Head of Languages

Rachel graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in Modern Languages in 2012, during which time she also completed studies at Université Paul Valéry Montpellier III in France, and Universidad de Cádiz in Spain. She completed her PGCE in Modern Languages at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2013, and gained her Master’s in Education shortly after entering the teaching profession. Rachel has been in teaching for over 10 years, and joined Cheadle Hulme High School in 2019.
 
In her time at CHHS, she has worked in various roles in the Languages department, becoming Head of Languages in 2021. Rachel completed her National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development in (NPQLTD) in 2023, and is currently working towards her NPQSL.
 
Born and raised in Greater Manchester, Rachel is proud to be contributing to the NCLE language hub programme to re-energise language learning across the Etherow hub network.
